La Libertad
Our first trip together
El Salvador was my first trip with Bradley. We wanted to go somewhere unique, and we found La Libertad and a small Airbnb right on the beach. We first went in August 2024.
We had a fire by the water, walked the rocky beach in the mornings, and wandered to different parts of the area around us. It felt like the locals didn't see many visitors like me back then, which made for some funny moments.
We went back to the same place in September 2025. We still had fun, but it wasn't the same. They were trying to modernize, and it felt like it was losing the charm we fell in love with.

Questions about the El Salvador photos
Who took the El Salvador photos?
I did. Every photo in this gallery is shot and edited by me, Autumn Wohlwend. I learned photography as a U.S. Navy Mass Communications Specialist.
What does the El Salvador gallery show?
El Salvador's Pacific coast: black volcanic stone beaches, wet sand, surf, sunsets, a little open-air art, and the view from the plane.
Why are the beaches in El Salvador black?
The coast is volcanic, so many beaches are covered in dark volcanic stones and black sand instead of pale sand. You can see it in almost every photo here.
Where in El Salvador were these photos taken?
Around La Libertad, on the Pacific coast. Bradley and I stayed at a small beach Airbnb there in August 2024 and went back in September 2025.
